In this month’s update I am seeking your views on one of the big national issues of the day, but wanted to start with a local issue that will be important in a number of areas of the constituency.  I would also welcome your feedback on my recent annual report back which was delivered by volunteers across the constituency.

A belated Happy New Year to you!

This first e-mail to constituents of 2013 covers three topics which I hope will be of interest - a summary of your views on regulating the press (in response to my e-mail sent before Christmas), a note on the major state pension reforms which I announced in the House of Commons on Monday, and an update on plans to get superfast broadband rolled out across South Gloucestershire.

Following the publication yesterday of the long-awaited report by Lord Leveson on the conduct of the press, I thought I would offer some initial thoughts and invite any observations you may have on the issue.
 

In this month's newsletter I am taking the opportunity to update you on some ongoing campaigns (such as 'Help our High Streets' and the campaign for better broadband) as well as some new ideas I am working on.

Many thanks to everyone who responded to the first of my new style e-newsletters which I sent last month.  I am delighted to see that this new format seems to mean that my e-mails are no longer getting stuck in spam filters and the like!
