Minister Challenges First Bus
Northavon MP Steve Webb led a short debate in
Parliament on First's attempts to withdraw the X27 bus service without
consultation, and to highlight the "shambles" of public transport in
South Gloucestershire.
The MP, who has long
campaigned for better local bus and train services,
told the Minister of First's claims that it was not allowed to
cross-subsidise rural bus routes with the profits made from its busy
city-centre routes.
However, the Minister in his response
said that he was unaware of any legislation that prevented them from
doing so.
