Britain's Youngest MP to Speak in Chipping
Sodbury
Britain's youngest MP, Lib Dem Jo Swinson, is to speak at a public
meeting in Chipping Sodbury next week. The MP, who was just 25 years old
when she was first elected in 2005, will be speaking at Chipping Sodbury
Town Hall on Monday 8th September at 7pm, at a meeting hosted by local
MP Steve Webb.
Jo Swinson, who represents East
Dunbartonshire in Parliament, will be talking about her experiences as a
young woman involved in Parliament and will also be taking questions
from the floor. Jo is known at Westminster as a campaigner on
environmental issues, and has run a high-profile campaign against excess
supermarket packaging.
Steve Webb said:
"I am delighted that Jo Swinson has made time to visit us in Chipping
Sodbury to talk about her experiences as a young person in Parliament.
All are welcome to the meeting, but we are particularly keen to invite
local young people who are interested in politics and in knowing more
about how to get involved".
Tickets for the event, after which light refreshments will be served,
are £7, but admission is free on the door to young people from the local
area. A sign language interpreter will also be present at the meeting.
