Options for Harnessing Severn Tidal Power
Commenting on the Government's
publication of
ten possible options for harnessing the tidal power of the Severn
estuary, local MP and Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary,
Steve Webb MP, said:
"It is very encouraging that the Government is looking
at a wide range of schemes for harnessing the tidal power of the Severn.
"As well as barrages in
different locations, it is only right that the study should examine
lagoons schemes, fences and other ideas for generating renewable
electricity.
"It is vital that the study
should be genuinely open to all the alternatives, and the fact that a
varied list of alternatives is being considered is a welcome
development".
