Major Public Meeting Next Week on 5,000 New Homes
for Yate
Residents in the Yate area will have their chance to learn more about
plans for 5,000
extra houses for the town at a public meeting next week.
The event has been
organised by Northavon MP Steve Webb in partnership with local
councillors and will be held at Brimsham Green
School at 7.30pm on Friday 29th February.
Residents will be able to hear
more about where the numbers have come from,
to discuss the effect this scale of
development would be likely to have on the area, and to learn how they
can best register their views.
Commenting, Steve Webb said:
"Local people are starting to hear about this extra 5,000 houses, but
may still have little idea where they might
go, where this figure has come from and how
residents can register their opposition. This
meeting will give people a chance to find out
more about the plans and what impact they
could have on the town, and about the campaign to get
these plans changed.
"Whilst there is a need for
more affordable housing for local people,
development on this scale would overwhelm our area. We could lose
acres of countryside, find our roads
completely gridlocked and our public services
such as hospitals be overwhelmed. If we do not
take a stand now, we will be facing the
consequences for decades to come".
