Steve Webb with club officials, the shield,
and dozens of keen junior players
Northavon MP Steve Webb has paid a Saturday morning visit to see the
work of Winterbourne
United FC in training up the next generation of England
football stars. The club's adult first
team is celebrating having won the
Hellenic Division One West title for the first time in the club's
history, and on his visit Steve Webb was shown the shield
that the club has won.
The club trains boys and girls of
all ages at Winterbourne Recreation
ground on a Saturday morning, with
dozens of
local youngsters able to improve their football skills under the
watchful eye of the club's team of trainers.
Commenting on his visit, local MP Steve Webb said:
"I warmly congratulate Winterbourne United on winning the league title
this season.
This is a great achievement for a local team. I also very
much welcome all the work that the club
does with both boys and girls, providing
them with a constructive outlet for
their energy and teaching them new skills. I
wish them all the best in the future". >
