Northavon MP Steve Webb has paid his traditional early-morning
Christmas visit to local sorting offices to thank postal workers for
their year-round efforts. The MP began at Thornbury sorting office at
6.30am before moving on to the Yate office to chat to postmen and
postwomen as they sorted out their delivery rounds into the correct
order. In other years the MP has visited smaller sorting offices at
Winterbourne and Pilning to wish a happy Christmas to all of the area's
postal workers.
Commenting on his visit, Steve Webb said:
"I would like to thank all the people who make sure that we get our post
come rain or shine, and whose working day starts while most of us are
still tucked up in bed. Delivering the post is an increasingly demanding
job, and I am pleased to have this annual opportunity to say a word of
thanks to everyone who helps to keep us in touch".
