Chipping Sodbury Gets "Crafty"

The craft stall in aid of the
Children's
Hospice South West with (L to R) Marjorie Burfitt, Barbara Morgan,
Steve Webb MP, Margaret Gains and CPRE Chair, Sue Gawler
Saturday morning (2nd October) saw the latest annual craft fair
organised by the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE)
take place at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall. The fair was opened by
Northavon MP Steve Webb, a longstanding supporter of CPRE, and saw
streams of local residents coming to buy gifts and early Christmas
presents throughout the day.
More than two dozen stalls demonstrated the craft work
of local people, including hand-made greetings cards, jewellery, soft
toys and home-made cakes on the WI stall. One stall (pictured) sold
craft products to raise money for the "Babe" appeal in support of the
Children's Hospice South West, of which Steve Webb is a patron.
Speaking after the event, Steve Webb said:
"The CPRE craft fair is always a very enjoyable event, and gives local
people the chance to showcase their skills. I was particularly pleased
that the fair was being used to raise money for other worthwhile causes
including the appeal for a new Children's Hospice".
Chair of South Gloucestershire CPRE Sue Gawler said that the event had
been a success and was now firmly established on the local calendar as
one of the highlights of the Autumn.
