Budget Condemns Pensioners to Means-Testing

Steve Webb MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, commenting on the Governments pensions proposals which rely heavily on means testing, said today;

“The planned Pension Credit will condemn half of Britain’s pensioners to means-testing. The system is so complicated that the Government has admitted that as many as one in three of those who are entitled will fail to claim. Pensioners do not want the humiliation of mass means-testing. They want a decent pension. And this Budget fails to deliver”.
