MP Backs "Paul's Place" Bid For New
Facilities For Disabled People
Northavon MP Steve Webb has given his backing to a bid
by local charity Pauls Place to improve
facilities for adults with physical disabilities in the
local area. The MP was speaking following a visit to an
open day put on by the charity at the Brockeridge Centre
at Frampton Cotterell. The group was set up six years ago
primarily to provide social activities for adults with
physical disabilities. Members now have the opportunity
to take part in more than a hundred social events each
year, mostly taking place in the evening. Now the group
wants to expand its work to provide daytime activities
including computing training and sporting activities, and
is about to submit a bid to the National Lottery for
funding. Following his visit, Steve Webb has given his
backing to the bid. Steve Webb said:
It was a pleasure to attend the Pauls Place
open day and to hear more about the very positive work
that the group does. Given the difficulties that many
disabled people face in getting out and about, the work
of Pauls Place is a great way to make sure people
do not become isolated but can have a social life of
their own. The proposed expansion of services would
provide a further dimension to the groups work, and
I am sure that it would be money well spent.
