MP Welcomes Recall Of Parliament

Northavon MP Steve Webb has welcomed the decision to recall Parliament following the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. The MP, who will be joining other MPs at Westminster for a special sitting on Friday, said that the attack had implications for all countries who believed in democracy and the rule of law, and that it was right that MPs should have an early opportunity to consider how best to respond. Steve Webb said:

“The terrible events of the last few days have shocked decent people all around the world. All Governments need now to consider their own security and intelligence strategies in the light of these atrocities. It is quite right that MPs should have the opportunity to debate these matters at the earliest opportunity. It is also right to consider in a calm and measured way what would be the most appropriate way to respond to what has happened”.
